But don’t take our word for it …

    Orthopedic Massage Therapist

“I started training at 39 years old because I’d become increasingly aware that I was spending a lot more time sitting than I used to. I could see that if I stayed on the same trajectory, I would not be setting myself up for success in my later decades.

I’d tried for years to get started with a regular movement practice on my own, but I couldn’t do it and eventually hired Nathan Schechter from the new Mind Body Literacy. He was a great coach and I took some further training from him about coaching others.”

How many times in life has something you deeply desire felt impossible?

As human beings two things often stand in our way when we want to solve a problem or achieve something we deeply desire:

    1) Technical Know How
    2) Emotions and Energy Levels

As human beings we are not wired for many of the states of mind, energy and emotion that are often necessary to get to the changes we truly desire. For example, knowing how to plan, implement, observe and be patient with slow change.

And we certainly aren’t wired to do it alone.

In my own life I have successfully done things that every single person around me, including the experts, said were impossible.

But it took work, help from wise and caring mentors, and high quality coaching.

In most every case, real, significant progress required a combination of technical know how, coaching and emotional support, and hard work broken up into a structured and sustainable process.

Mind Body Literacy seeks to provide you with the knowledge, structure & support that make such changes possible, and teach you how to create it for yourself and others.

Over two decades of trial-and-error in finding what works - and what does not work - has gone into bringing you the programs we offer.

But if you’re looking for an “easy button” and pie-in-the-sky promises you won’t find that here.

Because, let’s face it, you can get people to give you their money, but you can not buy or fool nature.

The writer, educator, and businessman Stephen Covey once said that are lives are governed by natural laws. He was right.

From the metabolic function of your body, to the scientific principles explained in the free guide, to the art of actually being able to apply principles like those into your own unique life, to the very life that flows through us, we are subject to forces that, for the most part, are neither fully understood, nor fully under the control of human beings. We can work with them, but we can not dictate to them.

Though there are many skills to build and develop to make difficult things achievable, a good place to start is with something that is tangible, reliable, doable and that benefits both your mind and body.

Using exercise & movement in a thoughtful and skilled way has the power & potential to begin to transform your life, and the lives of those around you, and yet …

Today, few people understand the breath and depth of the world that is exercise and movement.

Living in the world of movement is mostly a lost art. For ancient people, like the athletes of Sparta, Greece and Rome, or the yogis of the Indus Valley, training with exercise could be:  part of their daily lives, a spiritual practice or even a large component of their practice of medicine.

But how do modern people make time and get the know-how to be able to get over fear and frustration and learn to incorporate movement and exercise into their lives so that they can get their body to do what they want, solve problems, and build new skills?

How do people not only develop new skills but also cultivate invaluable qualities like resilience, patience, and greater understanding and ability?

Those are some of the questions we’ve found ways to answer, and the answers are built into all of our offerings.

Because we’ve seen that the ability to change or build new habits through sustainable  training is a profound skill that extends beyond the realm of physical fitness.

It’s about releasing:  centeredness, power, and a connection to your profound life purpose that resides deep within.

This journey is a holistic one, encompassing fitness, mental clarity, and emotional well-being. And It's marked by a longing for something that extends beyond yourself, where your actions can serve as a model that helps  others.

This work invites you into striving to become more authentic and aligned with your true self, embracing new ideas and strategies, crafting a purpose-driven life, one that finds balance between intuition and practicality.  One that let’s you recognize that your presence in this world is significant.

It starts by learning to build training into your life in a way that is sustainable for your unique life circumstances, one which teaches you how to shift feeling states, create doable plans, and intelligently track progress.

If you sometimes struggle with movement, exercise and healthy eating and:

    * getting yourself to do it
    * knowing what to do
    * knowing the rhythm with which to do it
    * knowing if you’re doing it correctly in order to get good results
    * knowing what obstacles to look out for
    * navigating around common obstacles
    * teaching and guiding your clients or patients with what to do

then you are in the right place.

At Mind Body Literacy you can get the help and support to move beyond where you are now and finally make the progress you’ve been thinking about.

In a world where there is an overwhelming amount of conflicting information and it can be difficult to know where, or how, to begin …

We help you build a set of core skills and guide you to the results that are right for you, so you don’t have to stay stuck or make the journey alone.
